How Does Underfloor Heating Work?
Maincor Underfloor heating works through warm water pumped through the pipes laid in the floor of the room, only low temperatures are required as the large surface area of the floor is enough to warm the room efficiently. An Underfloor heating system will generally run at around 45oC as opposed to 80 oC used in radiator systems, this means that energy and running cost savings can be found, especially when used with renewable heat sources such as heat pumps.
The diagrams below illustrated how the heat travels around the room in a radiator system on the left and from an underfloor heated system on the right. The underfloor heating system heats mainly the living area in the room, whilst the heat from the radiator system collects at the ceiling – a much less efficient heating method!

Hot water sources
Underfloor heating can work with a large range of hot water supplies – usually with condensing boilers, but is often used in conjunction with renewable energies such as solar and geothermal systems. For building extensions it can be connected into your existing central heating system with one of our Single Area Packs.
