Floor Constructions
Floor Constructions
There are 3 main ways to install Maincor underfloor heating, depending on the type of floor construction used in the property.
Solid Floors
1. Wall 2. Edge Strip 3. Screed 4. Thermal Insulation 5. Structural Slab 6. MLC Pipe 7. Pipe Staple 8. Floor Finish 9. Polyethylene Sheet
Maincor pipes are laid onto insulation board placed over a solid concrete base, screen in then poured over the top of the pipes. This construction is typically used on ground floors or beam and block floors.
Suspended floors

Mainfoil System Heat Emission Plate System
1. Mainfoil Clip 2. MLC Pipe 3. Additional Insulation 4. Joists 5. Mainfoil Insulation
1. Tongue & Groove Chipboard 2. Insulation 3. Joists 4. MLC Pipe 5. Heat Emission Plate
Maincor offer two solutions for suspended floors both involve suspending the pipework between the joists to heat the room.
- Mainfoil system – which utilises a bubble aluminium foil which laps up and over the joists and creates a sealed air void, the aluminium foil reflects the radiant heat up to the underside of the floor which in turn heats the room
- Maincor aluminium heat emission plates are supported by the joists (400mmc/c) the plates are grooved so that the Underfloor Heating pipework can be fitted. The plates diffuse the heat for even heat distribution across the floor.
Floating floors
1. MLC Pipe
2. Heat Emission Plate
3. Tongue & Groove Chipboard
4. EPS Floating Floor Panel
5. DPM
6. Concrete Slab

Maincor can supply a range of polystyrene panels with various density grades, the panels range from 30mm to 100mm depending on the solution required. The panels are pre-routed (see illustration) so that heat emission plates can be laid directly into the panels, once this is complete the pipework can be installed into the plates. A floating floor is then laid over the top of the system.
